I wish I had seen it when it first came out. It's my new favourite movie. I want the dvd!

On Language

For all I moaned and groaned about having to learn Chinese, I really have great respect for the language. All language has merit, but Chinese particularly lends itself to a natural poetry, nobility and artfulness.

If only we had a better system for teaching it here.

For those who are interested, Channel News Asia is screening the 2003 Inter-Varsity Debates. Be forewarned; it's in Chinese, but it easily puts most of Singapore's "debaters" to shame.
